Erotic Humiliation

Erotic humiliation is the consensual use of psychological humiliation in a sexual context, whereby one person gains arousal or erotic excitement from the powerful emotions of being humiliated and demeaned, or of humiliating another; often but not always in conjunction with sexual stimulation of one or both partners in the activity. The humiliation need not be sexual in itself; as with many other sexual activities it is the feelings derived from it which are sought, regardless of the nature of the actual activity. It can be verbal or physical, and can be relatively private or public. Often it can become ritualized, and unlike some sexual variations it can also be easily carried out over a long distance or online. The distinction between humiliation and dominance in an activity such as erotic spanking is that the sought-after effect is primarily the humiliation; the activity is just a means to that end. While fantasy and fascination with erotic humiliation is a prevalent part of BDSM or other sexual role-play, relatively little has been written on it. Humiliation play can however be taken to a point where it becomes emotionally or psychologically distressing to one or the other partner, especially if it is public humiliation. Erotic humiliation can become extreme enough to be considered a form of edge play, that some consider may best be approached with advance negotiation and use of a safe word. This is a highly subjective issue, and depends greatly on context.

Age play

Ageplay or age play is a form of role-playing in which an individual acts or treats another as if they were a different age. The practice can be regressive, in which the goal is to re-experience childhood, or sexual, recreating a sexual relationship with people of the pretend and/or true ages. Generally this can involve someone pretending to be younger than they actually are, but more rarely can involve assuming an older role. Sexual variations may include among other things incest play, in which individuals recreate and sexualize roles within a family, and Daddy’s girl fetishism in which real or imagined age differences are the basis of the role-playing and the female is portrayed as the younger partner. Age play is not considered to be related to pedophilia by professional psychologists. Sexual age play itself does not involve the sexual attraction to biologically underage people. Rather, when a consenting adult takes on the role-playing mindset of a young person, it is motivated by re-experiencing emotional states and social interactions of one’s youth, which also happen to be pleasurable in a sexual context to the participants. A butt plug is a sex toy designed to be inserted in the anus and rectum for sexual pleasure. In some ways, they are similar to a dildo, but they tend to be shorter, and must have a flanged end to prevent the device from being lost inside the rectum. Unlike the vagina, which is closed off by the cervix, the rectum leads to the sigmoid colon. Objects that are inserted into the rectum can therefore potentially travel up into the bowel: the flared end on a butt plug exists to prevent this. Many dildos lack a flared end, and thus it is ill-advised to use such dildos anally, since they may get stuck, requiring medical extraction. In addition, the lower bowel above the rectum is easily perforated. For this reason, butt plugs tend to be shorter than dildos, and their marked size generally indicates the circumference of the device rather than the length. They must also be very smooth to avoid damaging the rectum or bowel. In order to get them into the rectum, they most commonly have a general profile of a round-ended cone which then narrows to a waist which locates itself at the anal sphincter, with the flared part outside the body, preventing the butt plug from slipping further into the body. The sphincter muscle will hold the plug in place by the waist, preventing the plug from slipping out unintentionally. As with other activities involving anal penetration, such as anal sex, large amounts of sexual lubricant and a slow gentle approach are often needed to insert or remove a butt plug. Butt plugs are often used covered by condoms for hygiene, and to allow for the easy disposal of any feces with which they may come into contact. Nevertheless, they should not be shared with other people, due to the risk of blood-borne diseases, including HIV that can arise from the transfer of body fluids from one person to another. A butt plug is not necessarily confined to only anal stimulation; butt plugs may be used in any orifice. Butt plugs come in a variety of colors, shapes, sizes, and textures. Some are designed to look like penises, while some are ribbed or wavy. A person who submits control of a large percentage of his or her day-to-day life to a dominant partner, or who submits within a formal set of rules and rituals, is the slave, and the person who assumes power over the slave is the master or mistress. Agreement on the exact meanings of the following terms is far from universal. For example, the function of tops and dominants is similar, and, in many cases, overlaps, but while the terms are used interchangeably in some discussions, there are differences between the two. The top is the actor within the BDSM context who applies to the bottom partners the techniques of a sexual, sensual, and psychological activity: flogging, bondage, servitude, or humiliation. The dominant controls the BDSM scene or relationship, exercising authority over the submissive partners. A dominant, who exercises control over a large percentage of a submissives day-to-day life, or within a formal framework of rules and rituals, is a master or mistress. The functions of top and dominant often intersect, where the top is the dominant, but this is not always the case. Someone who is topping may be doing so at the request, or even the direction, of a bottom partner; in this case, the bottom is the dominant partner. A top who acts within this kind of relationship dynamic is sometimes called a service top. A bottom that has dominance over the activities or the relationship is said to be topping from the bottom, even though he or she is really exercising dominance from the bottom. Another possibility is that the top and bottom are acting at the direction of a third, directing person. Within communities of lifestyle BDSM devotees, there exists a widespread prejudice against both those who act as service tops and those who top from the bottom. Both are considered by many to be failing to achieve a proper BDSM relationship dynamic, especially, if the partners are purported to be trying to achieve a dominant-top/submissive-bottom relationship. While it is possible that a dominant would not act as a top and thus have no expression of his or her control through kink- or fetish-based activities, it may be argued that such a relationship, lacking any erotic aspect to the exercise of control, would fall outside of the BDSM context. Tops or dominants who also assume a bottom or submissive role are referred to as switches. Master or Mistress is one of the honorifics some people use to describe the dominant partner or owner in a Master/slave relationship. Because it is an honorific of the dominant form it is usual for it to be written with a capital letter. It might also be used by the submissive partner as an honorific term in a D/s relationship. This can cause confusion when trying to understand BDSM terminology as both Master or Mistress and slave might be used - as terms of endearment - even though neither considers himself to be owned nor owner. Some people enjoy the connotations of servitude or submission in calling their partner Master, or being called Master. To others the ritual of such a formal mode of address may be appealing. It may also be useful in building roles in which one partner or the other may indulge in sadistic or masochistic desires, although people living as Master and slave are not necessarily sadomasochistic. Usage of Master or Mistress in most BDSM environments does not imply any specific expertise, abilities, or formal training. To successfully maintain a Master or Mistress/slave relationship takes abilities and skills beyond or apart from normal relationship skills. The term Master can be gender-independent but is mostly used only in reference to males. There is otherwise no male-specific equivalent. The female equivalent is Mistress or possibly dominatrix. Although the Master is understood to have authority over the slave in some sense, this never extends to ones legal rights and thus there must always be an implicit element of consent involved.
